Psychotherapy
Some people enter therapy because they have felt depressed, anxious, isolated, or angry for a long time. Others want help navigating difficult circumstances or a stressful life-transition (e.g., relationship difficulties, coping with an injury or illness, adjusting to being a new parent, facing an empty nest, feeling overwhelmed by a new job or career change, or grieving the death of a family member or friend). In addition to helping treat and improve symptoms, therapy can help you develop the tools and insight to make meaningful changes in your life.

Therapy works best when you have a good connection and working relationship with your therapist and are committed to the process. Change can be daunting, but your therapist will be with you each step of the way.
Scheduling your first appointment
When you schedule your first appointment you will be asked to complete an intake packet providing basic information, insurance information (if you plan to file with an accepted insurance), consent, HIPPA privacy statement, and our office policies. The intake packet generally takes about 30 minutes to finish, and should be completed prior to your appointment so as not to take any time away from your session.
During your first appointment, you and your therapist will meet to discuss your current challenges and goals and develop an individualized treatment plan. This first appointment will last 90 minutes, after that psychotherapy sessions are typically 50 minutes in length. You and your therapist will discuss the number of sessions that best fit your needs. Most clients find that sessions one to two times each week work best for them.

Telehealth Services
Dr. Novinski provides the option of Telehealth sessions. In-person/in-office sessions are preferred and recommended whenever possible. However, this is an option if you know in advance that you will be unable to get to the office (e.g., in case of inclement weather, recovery from illness or injury, COVID-19 precautions, etc.). If you typically file with insurance health plans, we will need to confirm that your specific plan covers Telehealth services for mental health.
Discuss the pros and cons of Telehealth in session so that you know whether this would be a good option for you. Telehealth services are available to clients in Texas and all other PSYPACT participating states. |
